This existing Dunkin Donuts had increased in popularity in the two decades since it was first constructed and was not able to accommodate the increased stacking, which was backing out into the adjacent right-of-way and even blocking a nearby intersection. The City had begun to impose a code violation to remedy the situation, which is how the project began.
The project involved re-configuring the site in order to accommodate the new stacking requirements onsite, attending code enforcement hearings to keep the client from paying fines while the improvements were made, and improving some existing conditions such as drainage and loading. By communicating well with City staff, the client avoided fines and was able to maintain his business operations while remedying the situation.
*Project was completed during Virgin’s time at Thomas Engineering Group, LLC.
